WHY YOU DON'T WANT ABS!

Updated: Nov 5, 2018

SNHFOTO Shoot, June 2018

Fuck me right…..a PT telling you that you DON’T want abs?! go figure!

Well, and I am speaking from personal experience here, having abs is somewhat overrated! Weeks & weeks of dieting, well let’s not use the word “diet”, weeks & weeks of eating in a calorie deficit. In case you fell asleep and missed ALL of 2017 a “calorie deficit” is the determining factor when it comes to fat loss, FACT. 2017 should be known as the year of the calories deficit!

So let’s get too it. You don’t REALLY want abs because:

1. You don’t want to invest the time needed to achieve them.

2. You don’t want to give up eating so much.

3. Your mates will only be “so” impressed by them.

4. You don’t want to track what you eat.

Now here’s have a look at what you really want:

You, yes you, like most us, myself included, want to look better in your favourite clothes, and dare I say it NAKED. If that’s you then here are some steps that you can take to achieve that feeling:

1. Ensure you are in a CALORIE DEFICIT.

2. Create that calorie deficit in a way that you enjoy. A VERY good way is resistance (weight) training. If you choose this approach, ensure there is some form of progression for your plan.

3. Move more. Aim to increase your daily steps, 10,000 is a good number to aim for here.

4. Drink more water. Half the time, you’re not hungry, you’re bored!

5. Track! Track your weight/physical measurements. Take progress pictures. Log your workouts and track your progression. And most importantly, TRACK YOUR FOOD! The only way to know what you are eating is to track it. What gets measured, gets managed.

6. Accountability. Probably as big a component as numbers 1-5 yet often totally forgotten about.

7. Finally, if you don’t know where or how to start; ask someone that does.
